Résumé
Aphasia is an acquired language disorder, most often secondary to brain injury consecutive to a stroke. So, the language processing systems and/or cognitive processes that underlie them are affected. The use of language requires the activation of a cognitive network within which more and more scientific research emphasizes the involvement of executive fonctions suggesting the interest of evaluating and integrating them during speech therapy of aphasia person. It is in this context that we wanted to evaluate the effectiveness of anomy therapy associated with executive training on the oral expression of people with aphasia. Thus, we have evaluated on the one hand the evolution of denomination performances and on the other hand the improvement of the speeches of these patients. The results of this single-case experimental design – carried out on six patients – reveal a positive effect of setting up this protocol on lexical and discursive processing levels. Furthermore, the qualitative feedback from speech therapists shows the feasibility and relevance of this protocol. This study underlines the importance of including executive training, alongside linguistic work, in speech therapy for people with post-stroke aphasia in chronic period. Future research is needed to support these initial results.
