Résumé

Radon -- Cancérogénicité Connaissances -- Attitudes et pratiques en santé Poumon -- Cancer -- Facteurs de risque Médecins généralistes -- Gard (France)
Radon is a radioactive gas of natural origin classified as a carcinogen since 1987. It’s the second leading cause of lung cancer after active smoking. Only one survey was carried out in Auvergne, France in 2010 about the perception of radon risk by a private doctor. The objective of my study is to assess the knowledge of radon in general practitioners within the department of Gard, France. It’s a quantitative, descriptive, observational and transversal study conducted with an online questionnaire. 78.7% of general practitioners in Gard know about radon. The answers to more specific questions seem to indicate that, in spite of good knowledge about the word "radon", doctors are less informed about the issues related to it. 56% would be interested in receiving training on this subject. 49.4% believe they have a prevention role among patients and 66.6% would like to give prevention advice. There is no significant difference in knowledge of radon depending on age, installation year or doctor's sex. Knowledge of radon appears to be better in the high-risk area than in others area.
