Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is a rapidly expanding therapy. Adapting the route and form of administration is necessary for the expansion of this activity. Thus, one of the challenges is to develop a dry oral form to simplify patient care and access to this treatment.To achieve this objective, we have chosen to use spray-drying which, unlike freeze-drying, is a fast, continuous and cost-effective method to obtain manageable and easily formulated powders. Analysis of membrane integrity by flow cytometry showed that a percentage of bacteria survived spray drying. Identification of these micro-organisms, for example by culturomic analysis, should be carried out to complement these results.
