Résumé
Background: portal hypertension (PH) is a prominent feature of alcohol-associated hepatitis (AH). However, it is not established whether the severity of PH has a prognostic impact in AH. Aims: to assess the impact of PH on 6-month transplantation-free survival (TFS).Methods: a monocentric retrospective analysis was conducted from January 2013 to December 2021 on patients hospitalized in our tertiary care hospital with a diagnosis of symptomatic AH proven histologically. Results: 127 patients were included with a median follow-up of 20 months. Mean Discriminant Function (DF) and MELD score were 59.54 (±23.40) and 25.17 (±6.59) respectively. The median survival without liver transplantation (LT) was 16.8 months (95% CI [7,75; 24.31]). Severe PH was not significantly associated with 6-month TFS (OR 1.20 95% CI [0.30; 4.74]), unlike MELD score (OR 1.22 95% CI [1.07; 1.38]) and nonresponse to corticosteroids (OR 6.39 95% CI [1.63; 25.10]).Conclusion: in our study severe PH has no impact on 6-month TFS.
