The use of contraception is intimate but shaped by religion, culture, technology and politics. Throughout history, the physiological mechanisms of reproduction and the means of altering them have been a vibrant subject. Different cultures have used plant, mineral and animal substances to control procreation. This historical and scientific analysis will take us through the methods of contraception and abortion used in different eras.
