Securing medication coverage represents an essential component of the quality of care, according to the objectives and criteria established in the certification manual for heath establishments by the High Authority of Heath. Within the Montpellier University Hospital, the Medication Care Safety Commission’s mission is to ensure the quality of care throughout the medication circuit, from its prescription to its administration. For five months between 2021 and 2022, audits of care units were undertaken to assess compliance with criteria related to medication care. Awareness-raising actions for healthcare professionals were carried out in order to present good practices, but also risky situations and potential events for the patient. The reporting of events, such as medication errors, is also essential in order to analyze them, using appropriate risk management methodologies, and subsequently implement improvement actions in order to avoid their recurrence or minimize their severity. In February 2022, the High Authority of Health carried out the certification visit of the Montpellier University Hospital and renewed the certification of the establishment with the mention “Quality of care confirmed”. Strong points and areas for improvements have been identified and will lead to adjustments regarding establishment’s overall strategy related to medication care, according to current and future regulations.
