Résumé
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, known as Charcot’s disease in France, is considered the most common motor neuron disease but remains rare and still not widely known by the general public. Clinically and psychologically devastating, it affects 5 new cases per day in French territory, leaving nearly 8,000 patients and their caregivers in distress, with no possibility of a cure. Despite the efforts made by research teams, the causes of the disease remain uncertain and complex, making it difficult to develop any curative treatment. Faced with the lack of awareness about the condition, patients need help to alleviate their suffering and improve their quality of life, as well as to shed light on this scourge that affects them. Community pharmacists, even though they don’t have a curative treatment to offer, can support the patient and their circle as best as they can by acknowledging them and raising awareness about the disease, all through various means that can be discovered throughout this thesis.
