The care of a child undergoing hemodialysis contains regular sessions of hemodialysis, a specific dietetic management, a regular medical check-up, management of complications, a psychological and educational support, as well as the preparation of a kidney transplant when appropriate. The main objective is to optimize the health and the quality of life of the child while promising an adequate kidney deficiency. This implies a multidisciplinary approach and requires the co-ordination of a specialized medical team.The role of a dispensary pharmacist caring for a child undergoing hemodialysis is crucial to ensure an appropriate and secure drug therapy. They play a key role in the care of a child undergoing hemodialysis by assuring the availability of the medicines, adapting the dosage and the formulations, looking over the drug interactions, educating the patients and their families, preforming a therapeutic check-up and guaranteeing the security of the drugs used.
