Background: no studies have identified all OCT impairment patterns in MS. We studied their distribution in a population of MS patients between July 2019 and December 2021 at the University Hospital of Nîmes (France).Methods: 144 patients (288 eyes) who performed oct on the Canon HS-100® device and low contrast visual acuity were included.Results: 66.7% of patients had damage to at least one eye in OCT and only 42.4% of the eyes were considered strictly normal. Perifoveolar involvement was the most common pattern (30.2% of the eyes) followed by minimal macular ganglion cell complex (mGCC) involvement (21.5%), then "horse hoof" involvement (14.9%) and temporal peripapillary ring nerve fiber layer (pRNFL) involvement (11.5%). Homonymous patterns were found in retro-chiasmatic pseudo-tumor disorders (2.1%). Fascicular involvement was not uncommon (5.6%). Nasal pRNFL involvement was common (13.2%). Visual function was little impaired in our population since only 8% of the eyes had an abnormal visual acuity at full contrast.Conclusion: OCT disorders are very common in MS even in the early stages of the disease. The identification of the different patterns allows a better follow-up of the patients. Further studies are needed to know the evolution of these patterns over time, to identify prognostic factors and to identify factors of progression of the disease.
