Résumé
Alzheimer’s disease is a pathology for which there is no cure. Indeed, according to the HAS Transparency Commission, existing drug treatments are not of sufficient interest to be covered by health insurance. These treatments can therefore represent a significant cost for patients and their caregivers. In addition, they may have significant adverse effects and cause drug interactions. To overcome these different problems related to the management of this disease, a lot of research has been done in recent years about non-drug care methods or even on alternatives that can help preventing the onset or the evolution of it. Pharmacists have a full part in promoting these different methods, which are complementary to drug treatments. This non-drug care concern many areas: lifestyle with physical activity and sleep-wake system, mushrooms, plants, trace elements, nutrition with probiotics, environment of the patient and caregivers… Pharmacists may educate themselves in all these areas to give better advice to patients and their caregivers.
