Neurodegenerative diseases are progressive and debilitating brain disorders. They represent one of the major public health challenges facing the world in the 21st century. Alzheimer's disease accounts for some 60-70% of all neurodegenerative disorders. With the increasing ageing of the population in many countries, this disease has reached epidemic proportions, leaving in its wake profound emotional, economic and social consequences for individuals, families and society as a whole. The complexity of clinical research in the field of Alzheimer's disease reflects the multifactorial nature of this pathology, highlighting major challenges in understanding its underlying mechanisms, its early diagnosis and the development of effective treatments. This thesis aims to explore this complexity by analyzing key aspects of clinical research in Alzheimer's disease, while proposing avenues for the future to overcome these challenges and improve the management of this devastating disease.
