Résumé
In a hospital environment medical emergencies are managed by a team of healthcare professionals. The nurse is often preoccupied by technical procedures. However, the foundation of the nursing is based on people a taking care of them. The aim of this study was to explore whether way the team worked together in an emergency situation influenced the nurse’s care of the patient. Research on the subject was studied and then used to establish an interview grid. Interviews were conducted with four nurses from different sectors of care. A cross-analysis of their responses extended the reflection on the subject and led towards an hypothesis. The result showed that effective teamwork and good communication improved the care of the patient in emergency situation, even when the nurse was busy doing technical procedures. It would be interesting to explore how the skills of each person a team complement one another and influence the patient’s care, and to determine whether quality care of the patient depends on the collective competence of the team.
