The objective of this study was to explore the impact of different management styles on absenteeism among caregivers in EHPADs in France. Faced with increasing turnover rates and a high incidence of burnout among healthcare professionals, this research aimed to identify effective managerial strategies to reduce absenteeism and improve job satisfaction. The study revealed that participatory management styles, where employees are actively involved in decision-making, significantly reduce absenteeism. Conversely, authoritarian management styles were associated with higher levels of absenteeism and job dissatisfaction. Programs aimed at improving Quality of Work Life (QWL), such as stress management training, meditation sessions, and physical activities, have shown to enhance employee satisfaction and mental health. Empathetic and flexible leadership, which recognizes and values the work of caregivers, is crucial. Employees reported higher job satisfaction and reduced absenteeism when they felt supported by their management. Improving working conditions, such as flexible schedules, adequate breaks, and ergonomic work environments, is essential to maintaining high-quality care and reducing absenteeism. High levels of burnout were linked to unfavorable working conditions and a lack of managerial support. It is crucial to address these issues to reduce absenteeism. To improve the situation, it is recommended to adopt participatory management, involving caregivers in regular meetings and establishing advisory committees to include them in decision-making processes. It is also essential to invest in QWL programs by regularly integrating wellness initiatives into the organizational culture. Training leaders in empathy is also necessary to develop empathetic leadership skills. Improving working conditions, such as offering flexible schedules, adequate breaks, and ensuring ergonomic work environments, is indispensable. Finally, it is important to establish continuous support and evaluation mechanisms to ensure the effectiveness of implemented initiatives.
