Résumé
The Beaux-Arts Multidisciplinary Health Center (MHC) was recently inaugurated near a Priority Neighborhood (PN) where more than half of the residents live below the poverty line. Having evolved within civil society since the beginning of the century, Health Mediation has been formalized since 2016 as a lever for action against social health inequalities. Our primary objective was to explore the mutual needs and expectations between the professionals of the Beaux-Arts MHC and health mediators from Perpignan in constructing collaborative care pathways. Method: we conducted a qualitative study based on a phenomenological analysis of group interviews assembled in focus groups. A phenomenological-inspired analysis through semiopragmatic was employed. Results: we formed two focus groups consisting of eleven professionals from the MHC and three health mediators. Our analysis identified four conceptual categories. The interviewees provided their definitions of health mediation, recognizing that knowledge of this profession and collaboration between health professionals and health mediators were limited. The expected objectives of health mediation by the participants fell within the social and multiprofessional fields. The interviewees defined the essential qualities required to be a health mediator within the context of the MHC. The practical modalities of cooperation remained to be determined. Discussion: our study led us to confront Health Mediation with a multiprofessional first-line care structure located in a PN. We understood that developing collaboration between the MHC members and health mediators would construct a care offer adapted to its patients. Our work has paved the way for further meetings aimed at establishing common health objectives to continue the integration of health mediation activities within the Beaux-Arts MHC.
