Résumé
In the context of eating disorders, as autism spectrum disorders, proposing parental support seems to be essential. This necessity is the subject of recommendations issued by the HAS (2018). In this context, the speech therapist and the parents jointly develop the child's care plan. The objectives of the treatment are defined according to the child's eating difficulties and the family's priorities. The different problems encountered are identified through many exchanges between therapist and parents. This partnership allows parents to understand the disorders and to define the adaptations needed to help the child on his difficulties. Thanks to this collaboration, parents become actors of improvement of their child's eating behavior. Parents who perceive the favorable evolution of their child's and who are supported, see their feelings of parental skills and well-being increase. The findings of this study aim to demonstrate the interest of parental support in the care of eating disorders in children with ASD and its impact on the parents' quality of life. Thus, we proposed a parental support implementation to two families. First of all, we designed a speech therapy assessment of oral feeding including a parental survey. Questions are mainly based on parents' perception and experience in difficulties encountered by their child, in order to allow us to be as close as possible of families’ reality. Mothers were able to attend all sessions at the office, welcomed us during meals at home, participated in strategies development to promote their child's nutrition and carried out the proposed activities and adaptations. We assessed the interest of parental support on reducing eating disorders on children with ASD and parents’ quality of life of, thanks to surveys developed in this study.
