Résumé
Introduction: the use of the ultrasound in general medicine remains little frequent and little known in Languedoc-Roussillon. Nevertheless this tool is already used by various specialities with a known efficiency. The ultrasound can be the continuation of the clinical examination and find its place in liberal general medicine. The objective will be to show the advantages and the brakes of the ultrasound practice during the primary care of the patients in general medicine for Languedoc-Roussillon.Materials and Methods: we proceeded to a multivariated descriptive quantitative analysis by targeting the practising general practitioners or not the ultrasound in Languedoc-Roussillon at a duration of 3 months. An electronic questionnaire in 3 parts was sent to them by e-mail under Google Forms. The questionnaire included a common part, a part A concerning the doctors not practising the ultrasound and a part B concerning the doctors practising the ultrasound. Results: 91 answers in this suvey were collected. 76 doctors did not practise the ultrasound (84 %) against 15 doctors practising her (16%). In the part A, the main interest of the ultrasound was: to eliminate an urgency diagnoses (n=53 or 70 %), to eliminate a criterion of gravity (n=48 or 63%) and to make a precise diagnosis (n=41 or 54 %). Brakes were: the cost for the practice of the ultrasound (n=25 or 33 %), a very time-consuming activity (n=22 or 29 %) and the forensic obstacle (n=13 or 17 %). In the part B, the main interest was: to eliminate a differential diagnosis (n=15 or 100 %), to eliminate a criterion of gravity and to eliminate an urgency diagnoses (n=14 or 93 %). Brakes were: the cost of the device of ultrasound (n=9 or 60 %), a very time-consuming activity (n=8 or 53 %) and lack of training in the ultrasound (n=6 or 40 %).Conclusion: the ultrasound remains a tool paraclinique of which the general practitioner little to pull a major profit without hidting the physical examination. Training remains the key of this examination operator depending with a very fast learning curve. A training and a first contact inthe ultrasound could be proposed during the medical studies or during the residency.
