Résumé
The nervous system functions have been described for several decades. However, its role in the regulation of cellular behavior and cell response to the microenvironment has only recently emerged. Nerves are involved in the development, repair, and regeneration by modulating tissues, including non-neuronal tissues. All these phenomena are associated with cancer. Emerging evidences suggest that cancer cells benefit from innervation to promote cancer initiation and progression. The liver, as an innervated organ, can benefit to this nervous system-liver crosstalks.This thesis focuses on the nervous system involvement in organogenesis, regeneration, and oncogenesis, using the liver as a study model. It combine and discusses the evidences suggesting that cancer cells benefit from innervation, which may in turn promote disease initiation and progression.
