Résumé
STIs are still current epidemics and therefore an important public health issue. In this context, reimbursement for external condoms on prescription was implemented in France in 2018. This thesis aims to study the practice and feelings of general practitioners in Occitanie on the prescription of external condoms. Methods: a thematic qualitative study was undertaken, using individual semi-structured interviews with ten general practitioners. Results: the obstacles to the prescription of condoms found in this study are the prejudices limiting the prescription, as well as the taboo of the subject related to sexuality. There is also poor communication about the measure of reimbursement and a decrease in STI fear. Moreover, the measure seems to be little used. However, facilitating elements are present with many consultations allowing the prescription, an adapted course of management and the training of doctors. We also note its use as a lever to address sexuality. Despite the questioning of the measure by some practitioners, others note its usefulness. Conclusion: there are several elements that facilitate the prescription of the external condom despite many obstacles that are still present. Many interventions would be possible in order to reduce these obstacles, in particular by improving communication and promoting facilitators with, for example, the training of doctors.
