Résumé
The aim of this study consisted in the exploration of a potential link between Theory of Mind (ToM) and executive functions (EF), in children with cerebral palsy (CP) who present, together, a delay in ToM’s development and specific executive impairments. This study focused on 18 children with CP from 6 to 12 years old and 18 typically developing children paired in age and gender, who were assessed on tasks of ToM ("Batterie ToM-vf") and executive tasks of auditory verbal working memory ("Répétition de chiffres endroit et envers", Evaleo 6-15) and visual spatial working memory ("Blocs de Corsi"), of inhibition ("Effet Stroop", Evaleo 6-15) and mental flexibility ("Trail Making Test for Children"). The results only show significative correlations between ToM’s performances and working memory’s ones. Therefore, this study tends to suggest, in children with cerebral palsy, the reality of a close link between ToM and working memory, in its two modalities, but doesn’t allow to confirm the same link between ToM and, on one hand inhibition, and on the other hand mental flexibility, as proved in former two studies.
