This thesis explores dietary supplements and bioactive substances aiming to replicate the effects of intermittent fasting in the prevention of skin aging. Intermittent fasting has garnered attention for its numerous health benefits, particularly its potential to mitigate chronic diseases and the aging process. The focus of this research is on skin aging, detailing the molecular and cellular mechanisms of fasting and its integration into anti-aging strategies. Special attention is given to the diversity of Asian plants, primarily used in South Korea, that mimic the effects of intermittent fasting and could constitute anti-aging strategies. The unique cellular and molecular mechanisms of each plant are meticulously described, highlighting their specific benefits for skin health. This exploration aims not only to deepen our understanding of these medicinal plants but also to pave the way for their potential integration into skincare and cosmetics, both in Korea and beyond.
