The increasing digitization of processes in the healthcare sector has paved the way for new possibilities to enhance existing services and systems. In this thesis, we propose a dematerialized prescription platform based on blockchain technology to address the challenges of the current system.The first step of our research was to conduct a state-of-the-art review on the potential applications of blockchain in healthcare, particularly focusing on patient-related aspects. The second step involved conducting semi-structured interviews with various stakeholders in the medical field, including doctors, pharmacists, and patients, as well as blockchain specialists, developers, and project managers. These interviews helped identify the shortcomings and challenges faced by the current paper-based prescription system. Issues such as prescription falsification, medication errors, and document loss were identified as major concerns.Building upon the interview findings, we propose a dematerialized prescription platform that utilizes blockchain technology to ensure the integrity, security, and traceability of prescriptions. The blockchain provides a distributed and immutable ledger that securelystores prescriptions, preventing any alteration or falsification. Additionally, blockchain features enable the comprehensive tracking of prescription history, promoting transparency and trust among the different stakeholders.We provide a detailed description of the proposed architecture for the dematerialized prescription platform, with a focus on the integrated security mechanisms and privacy protocols. Furthermore, we explore potential benefits of this solution, such as improvedprescription process efficiency, reduced medical errors, and enhanced prescription management for patients.In conclusion, this thesis presents an innovative blockchain-based dematerialized prescription platform as a response to the challenges of the current system. This research contributes to the advancement of technological solutions in the healthcare domain, offering promising prospects for the future of medical prescribing.
