The transition to the digital era is becoming essential for many pharmaceutical companies in the context of the evolution of the drug production environment. In the context of a competitive industry, digital technology brings many advantages, particularly in the areas of understanding and optimizing the process, regulatory compliance, traceability, and finally the harmonization of practices. The digital activity is extended to several activities: the use of computerized tools, but also the transformation of the activities and thus of the jobs linked to these tools. When this activity is applied to a pharmaceutical production site, the management of data by software is considered a digital activity. The digitalization of pharmaceutical production is progressing rapidly, underlining the need for long-term strategies to build sustainable organizations capable of meeting the growing need for information. The industrial IT sector offers many solutions, often compartmentalized by suppliers, and the challenge for every company in the coming years will be to harmonize all data sources to be able to exploit their full potential. First, the different regulatory and normative bodies of pharmaceutical production and digitization will be introduced. This paper will then present the computerized management sources on which digitization platforms are based, before turning to two strategies for optimizing performance and production management using them.
