Résumé

Psychologie périnatale Période périnatale Dépression du post-partum -- Dépistage Internes (médecine) Période de péripartum
Perinatal depression affects nearly 20% of birthing women and 10% of fathers. However, the knowledge of healthcare professionals involved in perinatology is heterogeneous, and screening is not systematically conducted. Our study focuses on the self-reported screening frequency of interns in obstetrics, general medicine, and pediatrics, as well as their screening habits. Method: we conducted a quantitative, observational, cross-sectional study through an online questionnaire distributed on social networks to interns involved in perinatology. Results: interns inquire about the mental health of women in nearly 60% of their consultations and the other parent in 40% of cases. Interns feel they have limited knowledge of perinatal depression (rated at 4/10), and only 18% of them are familiar with EPDS (Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale). However, interns who are more knowledgeable about postpartum depression are familiar with EPDS, more frequently seek risk factors, and screen for this condition more often. Furthermore, the prevalence of this condition in this population seems to be higher than in the general population (30%). Conclusion: this study highlights the importance of training physicians to screen for perinatal depression early in their training to improve patient care.
