Gait analysis is essential for understanding motor dysfunctions in patients with neurological or musculoskeletal disorders. GAITRiteⓇ is a well-recognized system for measuring spatiotemporal gait parameters, while KinTrackⓇ offers a more accessible and portable alternative. This study aims to compare the validity of the KinTrackⓇ system with the GAITRiteⓇ mat, as well as its reproducibility. Methods: this single-center study included 23 patients with gait abnormalities. Spatiotemporal parameters were measured simultaneously by GAITRiteⓇ and KinTrackⓇ, then by KinTrackⓇ alone. Results: analyses showed a high correlation for speed, cadence, and single and double stance times (ICC > 0.90) between KinTrackⓇ and GAITRiteⓇ. Reproducibility was satisfactory only for speed (ICC > 0.90), with agreement limits lower than the known minimal detectable change (MDC) for this parameter. Concordance (ICC < 0.75) and reproducibility (ICC 0.50-0.90) were lower for single and double stance times. Reproducibility decreased as patients moved further from the KinTrackⓇ system. Conclusion: KinTrackⓇ is valid for measuring speed, cadence, and step lengths but shows low reproducibility. Its portability and ease of use make it a promising tool for clinical gait assessments, although further studies with larger samples and technical system modifications are recommended.
