After an intermediate or major surgery in adults aged over 50 years old, the post-operative mortality seems to be associated to a certain extend, with certain anesthetic conditions. Complex new tools have been developed in order to optimize the conduct of general anesthesia, but are underutilized at Nîmes Hospital. The aim of this study was to develop and evaluate a hybrid training program to improve the anesthetic professional’s knowledge about this advanced monitoring tools in order to promote their use. Methods: in this monocentric before-and-after study, we have developed a one-month hybrid training program targeting anesthetic professional at Nîmes University Hospital and evaluate the impact of this program using multiple-choice questions distributed before and after the training. The primary endpoint was the change in MCQ scores before vs. after training. We also assessed the self-assessment of knowledge and the rate of use of the monitoring tools before and after training, as well as the satisfaction of trained personnel. Results: out of 202 eligible professionals, 91 took part in the training course, representing a participation rate of 45%. Post-training scores were better than pre-training, with a statistically significant gain of 12% (p=0.001), although below our initial hypothesis of 30%. Theoretical knowledge reported after training improved significantly for SPI and Entropy. The reported rate of SPI uses also increased significantly. Finally, over 90% of trained professional were satisfied with the training, and their level of confidence in the SPI and Entropy was high after the formation.
