Obesity is one of the major health issues around the world. The approach to obesity in consultation is the first step in the management of this pathology. Many physicians don’t approach obesity because they fear losing the patient's trust or fear of their reactions. Very few research questions the opinion of obese individuals on the approach to obesity. The aim of this thesis is to figure out which terms are preferred by the obese population to approach obesity by general practitioners in consultation.Method: the study is observational, quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional carried out in the obese population in France for 2 months. Sampling is non-random on a voluntary basis through LimeSurvey self-questionnaire shared on the Facebook social network in weight loss support groups.Results: a total of 489 responses were obtained, only 178 responses could be analyzed. “Fell towards your body” has an average of 3.49 and a median of 2. “Fell towards your weight” has an average of 3.70 and a median of 3. The term “Obesity” was ranked most last with an average of 8.21 and a median of 9.Conclusion: the terms “Fell towards your body” and “Fell towards your weight” were ranked preferentially in first or second position by the patients. The approach to obesity in consultation requires an approach centered on the patient's feeling towards their body. The term “Obesity” should be avoided if we want to start a discussion without stigmatizing the patient from the start of treatment.
