Résumé
The thesis examines opioid use, focusing on tramadol, a commonly prescribed painkiller. It reviews the history of opioids and the current crisis, with rising global overdoses, particularly in the U.S. In France, while the situation is less severe, the risk of tramadol abuse and dependency is growing. A survey among opioid-naive patients highlights a lack of awareness about tramadol's addictive potential, even among healthcare professionals, and prolonged prescriptions increase dependency risk. The study also reveals that patients are often uninformed about side effects and withdrawal dangers. Despite recent efforts to curb tramadol misuse, more is needed to improve healthcare training and patient education. Pharmacists could play a key role in prevention through better collaboration and the use of digital tools.
