The purpose of this work is the flow modeling in the aquifer system of CEA/Cadarache (south of France). The site presents two aquifers, the first one is fractured and plays a major role on fluid flow under the site. The second one is hydraulically connected to the first one and can exchange with it. A review of geological and hydrogeological knowledge of the site allowed the derivation of a conceptual model based on a deterministic continuous approach: the multi-continua model. The approach is well suited to take into account fluid flow in the fractures network, the matrix and the exchange between both aquifers. On the basis of that model, a numerical code for direct and inverse modeling was implemented with the finite element method and the adjoint state procedure for parameters calibration. The numerical code was validated by several numerical tests. The inverse approach of such a model requires the distinction of piezometric levels in the fractured medium and the rocky matrix. For that goal, several campains of slug tests were carried out on boreholes of the cretaceous aquifer. A classification of boreholes were done with the values of hydraulic conductivities. Several piezometric campains were also carried out for all boreholes of the site. With those data, the simulations showed the important role played by the source of “ Abéou ” and the sector of “ Ravin de la Bête ” on flows of cretaceous aquifer. This work has developed all conceptual and methodological basis in order to characterize fluid flows under the site of CEA/Cadarache. A first flow modeling was carried out which could be improved in the future thank to the piezometers network set up in this study.
