This work aims at studying the sedimentary record of the Gulf of Lion margin during the post-rift evolution. Methodology is based on the exploitation of a disparate database (the BRGM Banque du Sous-Sol, industrial seismic reflection, exploration boreholes, onshore outcrops), which -through high-resolution onshore-ofshore correlations- leads to interpretations of the post-rift evolution of distinct segments of the margin. The part played by the Messinian salinity crisis in the margin evolution is underlined. The processes of the subsequent restoration of the margin during the Plio-Quaternary are analysed. The distinct evolutions observed on different segments o the margin are related to local forçings (structural heritage and /or variable sediment flux). The results are used to improve the knowledge of littoral aquifers reservoirs.
