This habilitation, titled From the Biographical Perspective to the History of Pedagogical Practices: Towards an Integrated Approach to the History of Teaching, offers a reflection on the evolution of the author's postdoctoral research, rooted in the field of the history of education. The document is structured into three main sections, exploring the author's personal and academic journey, a renewed biographical approach to the study of pedagogies, and the implementation of a history of pedagogical practices as a cornerstone of an integrated approach to teaching. The first section, A Historian in the Educational Sciences, traces the author's methodological evolution, from initial work in political history and international relations to involvement in the history of education. This journey includes research on the career paths of teachers, the archives of the Decroly School in Saint-Mandé, and broader reflections on the intersection between History and Educational Sciences. The author highlights the influence of oral history and studies of educational institutions in shaping their socio-historical perspective on teaching. The second section, The Biographical Approach in the Study of Pedagogy, develops the idea that biography is a key tool for understanding educators and their practices. The author illustrates this approach through the examples of Francisco Ferrer and Ovide Decroly, emphasizing three research axes: pedagogical thought, social networks, and concrete practices. He explores how these elements can be integrated to provide a comprehensive view of progressive education, while also deconstructing the myths surrounding certain pedagogical figures. The third section, From Pedagogical Practices to an Integrated Approach to the History of Teaching, presents research avenues aimed at building an integrated history of teaching. This approach is based on a balanced analysis of pedagogical practices, educational theories, and social networks. The author stresses the need to expand the history of education to include material aspects, such as school spaces and tools, while remaining true to the biographical method.
