Abstract
This study give a global vision of the beechtree development. This study is a description
of the beech architectural development from the seed to the death plant in various environments. This
study has allowed to propose or precise some hypothesis about the signification of certain beech
development phases. The edification of the architectural unit is the edification of a hierarchic branching
system more and more élaboré, constituated of longer and more branched growth units, but also growth
units which, for a given lenght, (i) bear more leaves, bigger et thicker leaves, (ii) have more xylem and more
phloem for conduction of sap flow - many elements which seem contribuate to increase the plant
potentialities. The end of the differenciation corresponds to the reaching of the meristematic functionnal
limits of the plant. This stop of the growth unit differenciation seems induce in the plant the gradual transition
from an hiérarchic organization to a polyarchic organization. The beech architectural study confirme also the
limits between the different reiteration modalities. The sylleptic réitération, duplication phenomenon, not
integrate rejuvenation and there is continuity during development phase. The proleptic réitération integrate
rejuvenation phenomenon and there is discontinuity beetwen sequential and proleptic structures (here the
epicormic shoots).
