Abstract
The objective was to describe the fungal communities present in the beech forest of the National Nature Reserve of Massane from a molecular approach applied to wood samples. This method has allowed to understand the diversity of several fungal guilds (decomposers, mutualists, parasites and endophytes).A synchronic approach has been implemented to describe the fungal diversity of wood, and the dynamics of communities over time by comparing the species present in three types of trees: living, stressed or dead. For the dead wood cohort, three sub-cohorts were studied to follow more precisely the temporal evolution of the saproxylic community, and to characterize the interest of the necromass of the reserve, as a reservoir of fungal biodiversity.Particular attention was paid to the distribution of a rare species, Hericium clathroides, whose ecology was clarified during this work.This work constitutes a first contribution to the knowledge of the temporal dynamics of fungal communities in the Mediterranean mountain beech forests.The update of the list of mushrooms in the Massane Reserve brings to light 2028 taxa divided into 269 families and 487 different genera. A total of 931 species have been identified by analysis of fruit bodies or DNA molecules.
