Abstract

Phylogeny taxonomy
The authors describe a bovinoid Cortinarius species new to science, C. insanus sp. nov., sister to the poorly known and phylogenetically isolated C. furiosus, emended here. Section Furiosi sect. nov. is also introduced to accommodate the two taxa and distinguish them from other bovinoid lineages.
