The Rhône basin and its tributaries are threatened by global change that could increase tensions around water resources and their uses, with rules for sharing this resource that could evolve in future climate. In order to study the impact of water resource management practices on the hydrology of the watershed, INRAE, with the financial support of the Rhône-Méditerranée-Corsica Water Agency, worked at improving the use modules (diversions-dams, irrigation and drinking water supply) of the Distributed Hydrological Model of the Rhône, named J2000-Rhône, and to define climate scenarios and scenarios for each type of water use. The objective of this work is to question the limits of water-saving efforts and those of the generalization of water storage via hill reservoirs in historical and future context in order to study different adaptation strategies. The first results of the modelling confirm the vulnerability of water resources to global change, with a strong impact of conventional irrigation techniques and drinking water supply on the hydrology of the watershed. As for the pressure of dams and deviations, it varies spatially. This research confirms the interest of J2000-Rhône in decision-making on the management of water resources with a view to adapting to ongoing global change.
