The CRB Mi3P is a collection of microbial resources dedicated to procaryotes beneficial to plant productivity. It includes more than 10,000 wild and 3,000 genetically modified bacterial strains mainly isolated in association with mediterranean and tropical plants. Hosted by the Tropical and Mediterranean Symbioses Laboratory (LSTM) in Montpellier (https://umr-lstm.cirad.fr/) Mi3P focuses on bacteria having plant (legumes) nodulating and growth promoting (PGP) properties. Plants originate from either wild or cultivated crops and from forest ecosystems in a wide range of continents and countries including: - in Africa: Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Mauritania, Republic of Guinea, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, - in the Americas and the Caribbeans : Argentina, Brazil, French Guyana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico,- in Asia : Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, - in Europe : Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Poland, - in mediterranean countries : Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Lebanon, Lybia, Malte, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, - in Oceania : Australia, New Caledonia, The main objectives of the CRB Mi3P are: the conservation of biological resources and the protection of microbial biodiversity including "type strains"; the supply of strains to empower scientific, industrial, agricultural, environmental research and development projects; the creation and maintenance of a repository compliant with ethical standards the full management of these biological resources as a service to provide information to the public and to governmental agencies for policy development. As a BRC, Mi3P offers the highest standards of quality on security, referencing and storage of its microbial resources and the associated metadata. Its microbiological resources, stored over decades of joined research projects, are a unique source of living material for R&D in the fields of agro-ecology, bio-fertilization, inoculum technology development, biocontrol, mines and degraded land restoration, and other microbial driven developments.
