Résumé
We present the results of a survey carried out between April and September 2020 within the framework of the SOAN1 project on perceptions of digital (Karsenti et al., 2020) and its professions by students from colleges and high schools living in the Occitanie region, and engaged in a process of choice of their training path. The challenge is to better understand the construction of representations in order to identify the levers that can encourage students to apply for BUT (De Céglie et al., 2021) on digital specialties (MMI and computer science). The socialization (Court and Henri-Panabière, 2012) of boys and girls is the responsibility of various socialization bodies (Henri-Panabière, 2018), such as the family, school, media, peer groups. If the family, which is part of primary socialization, builds, from an early age, specific representations according to gender and occupations, the school, as a body of gender and equality, should rebalance things, particularly since the middle of the 20th century, when girls went to school. However, we find that the career equality of boys and girls is not the same and that digital jobs are not yet well known. According to INSEE2, between 2007 and 2016, the growth of jobs in the digital economy is + 6.3% in the provinces. However, women are under-represented in the digital sector (30% of employees in the digital sector in all occupations).
