Résumé
This presentation was made at the international summit on the revival of the coconut sector held in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, on September 9 and 10, 2024. R. Bourdeix, a CIRAD researcher, participated as an expert in Panel 3 on the theme "Sharing experiences and good practices in the coconut sector" and spoke on issues related to documentation and communication. Many technical documents in English have recently been produced, and could easily be translated and adapted to the situation in Côte d'Ivoire. The history and importance of the varietal catalogues of the coconut palm are recalled. The structure of these catalogues has recently evolved and been enriched. The work on this subject recently carried out in French Polynesia has highlighted extraordinary farmers' varieties, and the advent of "success stories".
