Résumé
Extensive palaeoenvironmental data suggest that significant changes occurred between the lateIron Age and Late Antiquity throughout the Roman Empire, driven by economic, political, andenvironmental factors. These differences are repeatedly detected in the archaeological record atdifferent sites, through anthracological, carpological, and palynological studies. Based on thecase study of Castro de Guifões (Matosinhos, Portugal), we propose to share a summary of themain conclusions/interpreta8ons obtained in the framework of the GUIFARQ project - GuifõesArchaeological Research Project, which began in 2016. So far, it has been possible to identifyagricultural and arboricultural crops, the gathering of wild edible plants, the possible circulationof food, different types of timber exploita8on, and forest management strategies. These will bebriefly presented according to the local and regional reality
