In this paper, we propose to measure responses ofhandheld RF transceivers, operating in a same band, to thethird order intermodulation distortion called IM3. Two testmethods are proposed. Both of them consist in measuring theIM3 responses in a reflected way. In a conducted mode theincident signal is applied directly to the antenna port, whereas ina radiated mode RF devices are illuminated inside a TransverseElectromagnetic (TEM) cell. The intermodulation distortion ofa large panel of handheld RF transceivers can then be studied.These nonlinear responses obtained with the two test methodscan be compared, and can enriched a database useful whetherin the context of susceptibility characterization of RF devices orRF target detection.
