Résumé
Firstly water pricing structures applied in irrigation water management are broadly presented. Then their advantages and drawbacks are discussed from efficacy, equity and budget constraints points of view. The authors illustrate their presentation taking two cases : a French case (the Charente River basin) and the Morocco water pricing reform. These two cases underline the importance for a water management reform of: (i) the information management; (ii) the adaptive capacity of the new water pricing system and (iii) the concerted approach to define acceptable water management tools for all water actors.
