Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 31% of all deaths globally. Pharmacological treatments are used to treat myocardial infarction, but they are unfortunately not curative. Developing new therapeutic approaches is therefore essential in cardiac regenerative medicine. Cardiac regeneration is a phenomenon considered non-existent in the adult stage of mammals, whereas it persists in other species such as zebrafish. The cardiac regeneration observed after an injury is complete without scar. The mechanisms that regulates this phenomenon therefore represents a major interest, which could lead to the discovery of an alternative, or even curative, therapy for cardiovascular diseases. In addition, over the past twenty years, studies performed on omega-3 poly-unsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) supplementation have demonstrated many beneficial effects, including post-ischemic anti-arrhythmic and anti-inflammatory effects.Objective: This study aims to evaluate the impact of DHA (an omega-3 PUFA) incorporation on electrocardiograms and on the post-amputation cardiac regeneration process in zebrafish.Methods: Fish were injected by acute injection of 10 µM of DHA versus vehicle. Four days after, they underwent cardiac amputation. BrdU was then injected to follow cardiomyocytes proliferation. Fish were sacrificed 15 days post-amputation. Heart were cryo-dissected to evaluate fibrosis, proliferation and the presence of scar.
