Island Studies versus Nissology*?Island Studies provide cases studies at any scale of any type of dynamic processes and their evolution in space and time.Island studies tend to focus on singuralities that make each island unique and gives it the sense of place or the genus loci.The objective of nissology want to be a contribution for a meta level of approach for the island phenomena at any scale that could fit for any process.Therefore, nissology* intends to formalize general concepts and transcalar methods suitable to depict dynamic processes between mainland(s), islands and islets. * Nissology :" the Study of islands in their own terms" Grant McCall (1993,1994) and Depraetere (2007).___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________The presentation is based on several comparisons between islands:- Mediterranean: Sicily, Sardinia, Malta;- China; Hainan, Formosa, Penghu islands.
