Résumé
Excitons confined in strained and polarized GaN/AlGaN quantum wells are investigated through a self-consistent variational procedure, taking into account high photo-injection conditions. Our model accounts properly for the effect of a dense electron-hole plasma on the excitonic wave function and permits us to address quantitatively the exciton bleaching phenomenon. Surprisingly, the exciton seems more robust to the screening by a dense plasma when the temperature increases. Quantum exclusion effects explain this peculiar behavior resulting from the Pauli principle and the fundamental prescriptions of quantum mechanics.
