Manganese is considered today as a strategic metal as it is largely used in the electric car industry and in fine chemistry as Mn-based reagents have also become an important alternative to REACH-restricted oxidizing agents.However, Mn has recently been included on the list of critical elements and its resources could be depleted in 20 to 50 years. Therefore, we are interested in the ecological recycling of Mn and its valorisation in catalysis, supporting a more sustainable synthetic chemistry. Here, we demonstrate that an invasive alien plant species naturallu able to bioconcentrate Mn into its roots by rhizofiltration, can be valued into a Janus ecocatalyst, bearing a unique dual catalytic activity (Eco-base and Eco-oxidant). We present the plant harvet, its transformation into a new ecocatalyst and its characterization by MP-AES, ionic chromatography, XRF, XRPD, XPS and its excellent reactivity in the example of the oxidative NHC-ecocatalysis
