Résumé

This paper, presented within the seminar of the Groupe de Recherche sur les Médiations (GREMS) at the Université Catholique de Louvain, sets out the theoretical foundations of the digital identity model and its implications for understanding contemporary online self-representation practices. Drawing on the tripartite model, declarative, acting and calculated, it examines how users construct, negotiate and are subject to their identity in sociodigital environments that articulate voluntary expression, effective practices and automated data production from traces. Situating this reflection within the GREMS research context on mediations, the paper interrogates the place of digital identity within the broader dynamics of communicational mediation, arguing that sociodigital devices are not mere supports for self-representation but active mediations that participate in the construction, normalisation and transformation of identities. It thereby contributes to reflection on the new forms of mediation engendered by digital environments, arguing that digital identity constitutes a central theoretical object for thinking the contemporary transformations of subjectivities and mediatised sociabilities.
