Breeding programs aimed at yield improvement in cocoa can be long and laborious requiring at least 8 years of data collection in the field. The efficiency of breeding programs could be greatly improved if molecular-based maps were available in which markers for traits of interest such as markers associated with the QTLs' for productivity have been localized. A genetic linkage map of #Theobroma cacao# has been constructed using a population of 107 individuals derived from a cross between DR1, (Trinitario type, heterozygous genotype) and Catongo, (lower Amazon Forastero type nearly homozygous clone). The map is comprised of 190 markers : 60 RFLPs and 10 Single Sequence Repeats as anchor markers, and 120 AFLP markers. Analysis by the Join map program revealed 10 linkage groups. Data on yield results were collected in Côte d'Ivoire over a 10 year period. These data are currently being analysed in order to localize QTL's that are involved in yield. (Texte intégral)
