Fluid-saturated sedimentary rocks are porous materials which elastic properties were shown to depend on the experimental conditions such as strain amplitude or strain rate. Similarly, poroelastic properties and compressibility coefficients should also depend on those two aspects. Moreover, under undrained conditions, it has been shown that the role of the experimental boundary conditions could play a role.
Accounting for these considerations, we present a new methodology to attain accurately several compressibility and poroelastic coefficients. The method relies on forced confining or pore fluid pressure oscillations, and is designed to apply well in porous and permeable rocks.
