The use of electronic systems based on Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) components in Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D) worksite applications has recently surged. As these systems are intended to operate in radiative environments, the need for a new system-level approach to Radiation Hardness Assurance (RHA) process and testing methodologies has emerged.The objective of this work is therefore to propose and define an RHA strategy to guide the decision-making process between adapting and qualifying commercial systems or designing and testing custom-builtsystems for use in radiative environments.
