Résumé

One third of the global population is projected to face severe water shortages, largely due to climate change exacerbating existing unsustainable water use. The FAO's 2021 report highlights unprecedented pressure on water and soil resources, pushing them to their limits. Water is framed as a global public issue linked to security and potential conflicts, driving supply-focused policies and large infrastructure projects. Climate change adds urgency, promoting techno-solutions, but there is a risk of maladaptation if actions are rushed. Water is crucial for climate adaptation, requiring careful, balanced approaches.
