Résumé

Ecology and Conservation
In this chapter we review the results from models that link local and regional scales, and illustrate some of the mechanisms that can maintain biodiversity. First, we present a model of local competition for space in plant communities. The model is a classical metapopulation model, but we apply it to a population of individuals rather than to a population of populations, and we add an external source of immigration by a propagule rain.
